SALT LAKE CITY - Real Salt Lake General Manager Steve Pastorino and Head Coach John Ellinger today announced the acquisition of striker Melvin Tarley, a Liberian-born forward who has scored six goals in three Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Games for the giant-slaying Minnesota Thunder (USL First Division). In order to clear roster space for today's acquisition, RSL placed DF Matt Behncke on waivers. Behncke appeared in eight RSL games this season, starting seven and logging a total of 587 minutes for the senior team.

Liberian women are gradually conquering their male counterparts as far as sports is concerned in Liberia.

Consellor Wheatonia Dixon-Barnes kicked the ball rolling when she took over the mantle of authority as Minister at the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

Since her appointment, Counsellor Barnes has been striving to make sure that the Youth and Sports Ministry does not function as "Football Ministry" but rather for all sports, be it swimming, kickball, taekwondo, basketball, table tennis, and so on.

Several Liberians recorded victories in American National college track and field championship

It has been over 7 years since Liberia Sayon Cooper set the stage at the NCAA Division II national championships by winning the 100m and 200m. This year, several young Liberians appear to be taking the torch from Sayon and making history on their own.
